We all have much more important goals than finishing a series on Netflix, which is why you can’t let your brain get accustomed to pursuing dopamine hits from these unproductive habits.

Once your old dopamine fixes become less habitual, your new dopamine trail could be increasing your perceived value.

Proving your worth to your peers could be your new dopamine fix. Every time you check off one of your business goals, the small steps towards your larger goals could be your dopamine hits, since each small step helps increase your self-worth.

Documenting your progress is important, because it helps you get those dopamine hits when you track what you’ve accomplished. You can train your brain to get dopamine hits from achieving real goals. Achieving business goals can increase your perceived value, and elevates your status, which results in a dopamine release.

Top performers are the people who are truly hungry for success. I often ask my mentees, “How hungry are you for success?”

Those who want success must be hungry for it. Those who are the hungriest for success achieve it, because they’re the ones willing to make real sacrifices. They’re the ones who will truly commit to their dreams. If you aren’t hungry for wealth and success, you probably won’t become wealthy or successful. You can’t be complacent. You have to want success more than you want to scroll social media, watch Netflix, or sit at home eating junk food.

I became successful because I was hungry for it. I was willing to sacrifice today’s pleasures for tomorrow’s rewards.

Peak performance is possible when you’re truly hungry for success, because hunger drives success, and hunger is your ultimate competitive advantage.
