Superhero Essentials for 2021

superhero essentials

As we enter a new year, many of us look forward to the fresh start the new year brings, full of hope for what could be. This new year feels a bit different. Reflecting on 2020 and making goals for 2021, many variables are still uncertain. While some things will remain indeterminate, we can achieve meaningful success by focusing on elements within our control. As we lay plans and set goals for the new year, there are three superhero essentials that can help each of us summon our superpowers:

  1. Imagine, Create, and Innovate

The first group of superhero essentials you will need to master is imagination, creativity, and innovation create opportunities. Imagination is the ability and process of inventing scenarios within the mind from perceiving the world around us. Effective individuals create supportive environments that encourage everyone to use their imaginations to create new possibilities.

Creativity is the process of producing something that is both original and worthwhile. It’s a phenomenon

whereby something new and valuable is generated. Effective people choose to fan the flames of creativity throughout their spheres of influence. Innovation is about applying new, original solutions in novel ways. Effective people not only promote innovation, they recognize and reward it in others.

One of the greatest powers in the history of humankind has been humans’ creative nature, our ability to imagine possibilities and take innovative strides.

  1. Manage Stress, Time, and Data

Managing stress, time, and data pays off. Despite difficult pressures, effective people remain focused, clear, and calm, which builds the confidence of everyone around them. Due to the natural “fight-or-flight” response, certain instincts take over when people respond to stress. The faster we can identify our fight-or-flight response and avoid pumping unneeded adrenaline through our body, the more easily we can respond to the situation and to the people at hand. As successful and influential people, we must be able to override instinct in stressful work settings or we’ll end up feeding tension and fueling reactive responses. Being successful takes time, but time is not the enemy of successful people. Instead, it’s a precious resource to be managed as carefully as any project. The best way to use limited time is to become more efficient. Efficiency is a choice. More accurately, efficiency is a collection of hundreds of minor choices about how we behave day-to-day. Efficiency depends on a moment-to-moment conscious evolution in our behavior concerning time. And, our time-management skills have a far-reaching collateral impact. By consciously respecting the use of time, we are treating those around us with the consideration they deserve.

  1. Encourage, Inspire, and Mentor Others

Encouragement, inspiration, and mentorship help us flourish. Another way to soar is to get everyone involved in our endeavors. Start encouraging people to achieve more than what they think is possible. Make it your mission to inspire people to question their assumptions, think for themselves, reframe problems, and approach matters in innovative, collaborative ways. Experiment with paying focused attention to people’s personal needs for achievement and development. Take responsibility when things go wrong. When great things happen, go ahead and give others the credit. Act as a caring, compassionate, and empathetic mentor. Think, speak, and act from the heart as a catalyst for results. Giving more of ourselves to empower others is inspiring. When we are doing our best, it inspires the people around us to do their best.

With these superhero essentials, we can all get closer to unleashing our superpowers in 2021!
