My Motivation for No Off Season

No Off Season, Steve Jones, football

People write books for many reasons which range from vanity to commerce to securing academic credentials. Why did I write No Off Season, which shares my life story with all its successes and failures? This is not a vanity project. I have zero problems with those whose interests lead them in that direction, but I’ve never played for public recognition or glory and that’s not my motivation in putting my life in print.

At the same time, no amount of humility will obscure the fact that I have made an extraordinary life for myself and realized a level of success that many people aspire to, but only a handful ever actually achieve. And that was my motivation in putting my life to paper.

I am not special. I wasn’t blessed at birth with any once-in-a-generation talents or with a silver-spoon. And I certainly wasn’t offered any special favors along the way. Instead, I achieved my success the only way that I knew how. The same exact way I continue to do it today. It’s not a complicated system taken from a business school curriculum, nor is it a too-easy-to-be-true New Age scheme.

It’s my hope that by setting out just exactly how I accomplished everything that I have accomplished in my life (and still going stronger than ever) that I might be able to reach out to all of those who share the same sort of goals I’ve held since childhood. In short, I aim to inspire them to make their own ambitions come true by providing them with a blueprint for turning their dreams into reality.

And so that’s why I wrote No Off Season, which is a roadmap and playbook—including anecdotal content and essential life lessons that I have learned along the way and incorporated into my personal methodology. It’s my hope that this book will help others find everything they need to make their own life what they want it to be.
